Angel Flores Selected SoCal Premier League Player of the Year

LA MIRADA, CA (June 12, 2024) – The SoCal Premier League is pleased to announce Worldwide Problems FC’s Angel Flores has been selected its 2023/24 Player of the Year.

Flores, a 5-foot-7 attacking midfielder, captained Worldwide Problems FC to its first SoCal Premier League Division One Championship.

“We are so very happy to see Angel win this prestigious award. Angel has been with us he has earned the trust of the coaching staff and his teammates. He has shown incredible leadership and strives for perfection on and off the field. Angel knows what the expectations of this this are all about. He’s very deserving of this honor and we’re very excited for him,” Worldwide Problems FC Co-Owner Mark Caudillo said.

Flores, a native of Mexico, appeared in 24 matches across all competitions during the 2023/24 campaign, scoring 18 goals and adding 10 assists in his third season for Worldwide Problems FC, the SoCal Premier League Division 1 Orange County region champions.

Worldwide Problems FC (14-1-4 overall), won six of its last seven matches on the way to claiming the Orange County region crown and a spot in the SoCal Premier League Final.

Led by Flores’ efforts, Worldwide Problems FC defeated La Familia FC 4-3 on Sunday, June 2 at Biola University in La Mirada.

“It was a hard-fought game with lots of twists and turns,” Flores said. “We needed everything we had to beat a tough opponent and win this title for the club.”

Flores graduated from Chino High School and is a Hope International University (NAIA) alum.

“Winning the SoCal Premier League Player of the Year award means a lot to me and to the entire team. I achieved this goal because of the work ethic and collective effort of this team. I am lucky to be a part of such an incredible group of players and staff. They’ve made me a better player,” Flores said. “I am grateful to the SoCal Premier League and Mark Caudillo for giving me this opportunity to prove myself and take one step closer to my dream of professional football.”

Flores received only small percentage in a 4-day Twitter/X poll that ran from Thursday, June 13 to Sunday, June 16, but was the overwhelming winner of the league’s internal poll, generating 65 percent of the vote among 120 league and team representatives.
