LA MIRADA, CA (May 1, 2023) - Top-seeded La Familia FC and last-year's champion, FC Cypress, have been on a collision course for months.

La Familia FC just kept scoring to roll off a 5-3 (9-6) win over Inland Empire FC Reserves at Ralph M. Lewis Sports Park in Fontana, CA, in the semifinal second leg of the Brent Freeman Cup on Saturday, April 29.

Humberto Martinez scored twice as La Familia, the SoCal Premier Division II North champion, exploded for four goals in the second half to qualify for its first cup final.

FC Cypress, battling for the lead in SoCal Premier Division II South, won a shootout 5-4 to get past L.A. Monsters 3-2 (3-3) in the other semifinal on Sunday, April 30.

Alan Torres buried to penalties in the second half for FC Cyress, which can finish top of Division II South with wins in its final two regular-season matches.
