SWPL PLAYER OF THE WEEK: La Familia FCs DeShawn Mendel

LA MIRADA (OCT. 5, 2022) – La Familia FC forward DeShawn Mendel has been selected SWPL Player of the Week.

Born in Nuremburg, Germany, Mendel had all three goals in a 3-0 victory over Medallo City FC in a SoCal Premier 2022/23 Season match on Sunday, Oct. 2. Mendel entered at the start of the second half and scored goals in the 50th, 55th and 80 minute as La Familia FC (2-1-0 overall) stayed unbeaten.

Mendel graduated from Riverside Poly High School, and previously played for Norco College (CCCAA) and Inland Empire FC (UPSL). His hat trick is the first for La Familia FC.
